Dreamtime Harvest’s slogan – although I don’t use it enough – is Rediscover the Bounty of Nature. There are so many wonderful things in nature that we’ve lost touch with….and part of that is simply getting out there to enjoy it.
Yesterday I did just that. It was a great hike that was a feast for the eyes….and hopefully a real treat later.
We did a nice two mile walk. It was a bit humid. But, oh, the sights! I found ghost pipe – (at first glace you think they are a mushroom – but it’s actually a plant without chlorophyl) for the first time ever! Never thought I’d be able to see them in person. I knew exactly what they were when I saw them! So distinctive!
I picked up an odd thing that looked like a cross between a plum and a rubber ball. Had to use Google Lens to identify it – it was an oak plum gall. A type of wasp lays eggs in an acorn and then the oak tree grows around it.
Some pretty yellow flowers…Yellow jewelweed…were a delight because my husband asked, “what’s that sound?” and I recognized that hummingbirds were nearby. We saw five of them of them but were too slow with our cameras. I’m kind of itching to go back with a chair and our cameras and just sit there until the hummingbirds don’t pay us any attention….
We picked elderberries. My dad has been reminiscing about (and craving) the elderberry pies his mom used to make.
I am definitely not a power walker when hiking….I’m more “what’s that?!” and “oh, I need to take a picture” and “this spot would have been nice to sit down and have a bit of tea” kind of hiker. Or, “that would be a great climbing tree!” Although, you won’t find me climbing any trees soon.
The seasons are changing and nature is offering a us a delight if we stop and take the time to look.

This week I’ll be making more solid body butters in fall scents, a new incense, more soap, some fall scents to the car diffusers and more.
